Obituary for Roy Carl Warnecke

Roy Carl Warnecke, aged 77 years, of Temple passed from this life on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at his residence. Roy was born on the 17th day of June 1940 in Centralia, Illinois to Anna Mae and Elmer Lee Warnecke.

Roy is a veteran of the United States Army having proudly served as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War as well as spending some time in Korea. On June 8, 1974 Roy married his wife Martha “Susan” in Centralia, Illinois. In 1980 Roy and Susan packed up and moved to North Texas. They lived in several locations around Dallas, Lake Texoma, and Waco. Most recently they made their way to Temple in November of 2017.

After moving to Dallas, Roy and Susan worked together at Foxworth-Galbraith Lumber Company, retiring in 2006. Colleagues at Foxworth-Galbraith became close friends and ultimately an extended part of the family.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Anna and sisters Brenda Sellers and Doris Homann.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Susan and his 6 children; Lisa Luera, Patsy Sullivan and her husband Greg, Veronica Bradley and husband Steve, Linda Bevel and husband Bruce, Rod White and wife Raegan, and Timm White and wife Susy. Roy is also survived by his four sisters Deeanna Froneyberger and husband Dave, Dianna Youngblood and husband Dennis, Margaret “Maggie” Atteberry, Michelle Malcolm and husband Rick and 1 brother David Lusch and wife Andrea. Roy also leaves 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen located at 11463 State Hwy 195, Killeen, Texas 76542 with military honors being rendered by the United States Army.
