I shared the celebration of many holidays and family birthdays with Walt over the years.  During my couple visits to him at the nursing home, he was very chatty.....he entertained me instead of me entertaining him!   I enjoyed making a special quilt for him and was touched that he seemed to appreciate it very much!  So much so, that it went on to his "next adventure" with him!:-) 

A very kind man with a great personality.  He will be remembered!

Having visited Walt multiple times and become familiar with him over his last phase of life, the ~18 months wherein he needed increasing assistance in his care, besides his friendliness to people I was impressed with his

intelligence, in both general knowledge and practical applications

equanimity, during his period of progressive illness

appreciation, of family in supporting him as he concluded his life

adventurous spirit. He had many stores to tell about his life, including exploring for oil in Europe, the deserts of North Aftrica and the jungles of S. America in his younger days.  With a little imagination and hyperbole I imagined him as "Walter Jones", brother of "Indiana Jones".  I never did ask him if he had seen any of the movies.

His adventure continues.  He will be remembered.
