Burell Barnes, age 85, of Belton died Sunday, October 30, 2016 at his residence. He was born on September 5, 1931 in Hamilton, TX to Charlie and Bessie (Harrington) Barnes.
Burell proudly served in the United States Army. He married Jo Ann Jones on December 10, 1958 in Waco, TX. Burell lived in Texas all his life, but in Belton for the last 2 years. He was Pentecostal and a member of the Masonic Lodge #417.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Bessie Barnes, his 3 brothers Earl, Tom and Charles N. and his 3 sisters Christine Barnes, Charlotte Smith and Evelyn Wilcox.
Burell will be greatly missed by his wife Jo Ann Barnes, his children Evelyn Joann Barnes, Burell Eugene Barnes and Charles Lee Barnes, his 4 sisters Winona Johnson, Billie Couch, Virginia McFarlin and Jacqueline Cox, his brother Tally Barnes, his 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home in Temple with Ron Henderson officiating. A burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6-8:00PM.
