Apolonia Benavides was born in Chriesman, Texas on February 9th, 1938 to Victor Martinez and Hasafine Martinez. Apolonia passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Westin Inn Nursing home in Temple. She is preceded by her husband, Asencion V. Benavides, Sr. of 54 years. She married Mr. Benavides, March 8th, 1957 in Chriesman, Texas.
Mrs. Benavides siblings that have preceded her: Martin Martinez, Virginia Ramos. Surviving siblings, Bart Martinez, Placida Martinez.
Survivors include Her Eldest Son, Asencion M. Benavides, Jr. followed by Casimiro Benavides, daughter Teresa Fraga and Arturo Benavides.
One Grand Daughter, Maria Collins. Three Great Grandkids, Charles Collins, Sarah Collins and Allison Collins.
Mrs. Benavides’ favorite Bible Scripture is found in Psalm 121 with the message as: “The Lord Our Protector” which she prayed daily for her family and friends. As a loving Mother, Mrs. Benavides was a homemaker and for a period of time, was employed at Baugh’s Shoe factory in Temple for over forty years ago.
The Benavides’ Family would like to thank the staff at Westin Inn for the loving care of their mother, as for some of the nurses have adopted Mrs. Benavides as their own Mom. For the family, it was an answered prayer for the care and the time they took for their Mom, especially knowing that the staff had other residents to tend to. For the friends who had loved their Mom, spent the time to visit, pray, and had shared memories of the past, Thank you. Special thanks to Mrs. Mary Gonzales, whom Apolonia had looked to as a daughter, and friend.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home Chapel at 11 AM with a burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple. A visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
