Ruth O’Dell Mays, of Kingsland, TX, passed away at the age of 81 on March 16, 2017 at a care facility in Lampasas. She was born August 28, 1935 in Marble Falls to Robert Paul Jr. and Evelyn Inez Wimberly Mays.
Before moving to Kingsland, Ruth lived in Ingram, TX where she raised her 5 children with her husband, Mack Washburn. Ruth was a very caring and loving mother. She worked very hard in her life at her jobs, one being at Mooney Aircraft.
Ruth followed her passion for Indian Art/Rocks in Arizona for many years before settling back in Texas. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Evelyn; her daughter: Laura Eve Washburn Connell; her son: Tony Lee Washburn; her sisters: Dinkie “Dainty” Clark Dallaire and Shirley Jean Duglosch; and her brothers: Granville “Bunny” Mays and Juwan “Buddy” Mays.
Ruth will be greatly missed by her son and spouse: Billy and Yvonne Washburn of Lampasas; her daughter and spouse: Betsy Washburn and David Brandt of Ingram; and her son: Shannon Washburn of Kerrville; her brother and spouse: Don and Sue Mays; her sisters and spouse: Dovie and Cole Morris and LaVerne Ray; her grandchildren: Daisy Brothers Hansen, Christi Connell Fowler, Jason Brandt, Shawn Washburn Carter, Lindsay Brandt Smith, Levi Washburn, JD Ritter and Torie Ritter; her great-grandchildren: Nathan Phillips, Grady Phillips, Cheyenne Fowler, Savannah White, Ella Brandt, Brodie Brandt, Aubrey Ritter, Joshua Ritter, Spur Ritter, Steeley Ritter, and Harper Ritter; as well as one great-great grandchild: Sean White.
A memorial service for Ruth will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church located at 426 W. Main Street Fredericksburg, TX (parking lot: 411 W Austin St., behind church). Pastor Thomas Jeffers will officiate. Any flower donations send to church.
