Jerry “Ben” Benjamin, age 76, of Heidenheimer passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at a local hospital. He was born March 8, 1941 in Hillsdale, Michigan to George and Ruth (Whaley) Benjamin.
Jerry married Jacqueline Smith on January 1, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He attended high school in Litchfied, MI and also Central Texas College earning himself a degree in Criminal Justice. He was a veteran of the United States Army having achieved the rank of Captain and was also a veteran of the United States Navy. Jerry affiliated himself with the Baptist Church. He was the owner and mechanic at Benjamins Imports on South 3rd St. for many years and had been living in Central Texas since 1973.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Ruth as well as brothers Harold, Harrison and Robert Benjamin and sisters Maxine Spencer, June Carlisle, Calista Carmean, Thelma Benjamin, Jean Carmean and Jane Hughes Burkhart.
Jerry is survived by his wife Jacqueline of Heidenheimer, son Jay Benjamin of Copperas Cove two daughters Jerilyn Duncan of Conroe, Jodi Richard of Ft. Worth, two brothers John Benjamin of Michigan and James Benjamin of Arlington one sister Jacqualyn Huber of Michigan as well as 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be held with military honors on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Holland Cemetery beginning with a vehicle procession of friends and family starting at 1:00 PM at Benjamins Imports at 510 S. 3rd St. in Temple.
A visitation will be held at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 10:00 AM to noon.
