Obituary for LTC Arthur Robert "Bob" Cyr Jr.

LTC Arthur Robert "Bob"  Cyr Jr.
LTC Arthur Robert "Bob" Cyr, Jr. (Ret.) age 79 of Temple, died at a local hospital on May 2, 2017.
He was born at Fort Benning, Georgia on Nov. 10, 1937 to COL Arthur Robert and Helen (Craven) Cyr.
He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1959 with a Bachelor's of Science and eventually earned his Master's Degree. He married Carol Maier on June 4, 1959 in West Point, New York. He served proudly in the United States Army. He was an Army Aviator rated in both fixed - wing and rotary – wing helicopters, but his favorite was the CH – 47 Chinook. He served for 20 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1979.
For the rest of his life Bob was an entrepreneur and never shied away from adventure. He drove a bus for rock bands in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. His most notable passengers were Madonna and Alice Cooper.
He lived in Central Texas for 20 years, was a member of the Roman Catholic Church, belonged to The Association of Graduates for (USMA) and The Military Officer’s Association of America (MOAA) as well as the Army and Air Force Mutual Aid Association (AAFMAA).
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Carol Maier Cyr (Jan. 2016), his parents COL Arthur R. and Helen (Craven) Cyr, 1 brother Joe and 1 sister Mary.
He is survived by Ms. Lynda and LtC Steve Weilbrenner, LTC Michael and Linda Cyr, Ms. Trish and Greg Davis, Mr. Christopher and Dawn Cyr, Mr. Mark Cyr, Mr. Robert and Donna Cyr as well as Andi and Kimi. He also leaves behind one sister Judy, one brother Steve, 11 additional grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Bob will always be remembered as a server of his country and family and leaves a lasting legacy for his generations that follow.
Services will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church on Monday, May 8, 2017. There will be a Visitation and Rosary from 9:00 am-10:00 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am with Father James Ekeocha officiating.
Graveside Service will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 9:30am with full military honors with Father Phil Mahalic officiating.
