Henry “Mike” Hamra, age 71, of Temple passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at his residence. He was born on October 18, 1946 in Kansas City, MO to Dr. Henry M. and Marguerite (Robertson) Hamra. He was raised in Borger, TX.
Mike proudly served for four years in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He graduated from Cascia Hall Preparatory School in Tulsa, OK. He earned his first associates degree to be an LVN from La Mesa Community College and his second associates’ degree to be an RN from El Centro Community College. He has lived in Temple since 2007 and was a member of Canyon Creek Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents Dr. Henry and Marguerite Hamra.
Mike will be greatly missed by his son Eric Hamra of Midland, his daughter Sarah Hamra of Fort Worth, his sister Dr. Mary Hamra of Norman, OK, his stepson Sean Marrs of Springfield, Oregon, his two stepdaughters Heather Rose of Little Elm and Kelly Bell of Fort Worth, his 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Canyon Creek Baptist Church in Temple. Mike’s ashes will be placed at the Dallas – Fort Worth National Cemetery at 11:15 AM on Friday, June 22, 2018 with the United States Navy rendering last honors. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Wounded Warriors Project or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
